All-on-X Dental Implants in South Bend

Permanent, Full-Arch Smiles Supported by Implants

Missing most or all of your teeth, struggling with failing teeth, or dealing with dentures that slip and rub can affect everything from the foods you eat to how freely you smile. All-on-X dental implants offer a permanent solution. A complete arch of fixed, natural-looking teeth is attached to a small number of implants placed in the jaw. At Michiana Family Dental in South Bend, we help patients regain the comfort, function, and confidence of a full smile.

How All-on-X Works

All-on-X is a full-arch restoration in which a custom-made bridge is secured to four, five, six, or more dental implants. The “X” represents the number of implants your treatment requires, based on your bone, bite, and goals. Similar to the well-known All-on-4 technique, All-on-X tailors the number and angle of implants to each patient for strength and long-term stability.

Because the bridge is fixed to implants rather than resting on the gums, it stays in place while you eat and speak, and it is not removed at night.

Benefits of All-on-X Dental Implants

  • Fixed in place: No adhesives, slipping, or clicking.
  • Strong chewing power: Enjoy many foods that are difficult with traditional dentures.
  • Natural-looking teeth: Your new smile is designed to suit your face and features.
  • Supports jawbone health: Implants help reduce the bone loss that follows tooth loss.
  • May reduce grafting needs: Angled implants can make use of existing bone.
  • Same-day teeth for many patients: A temporary fixed bridge can often be placed on surgery day.
  • Long-lasting: With good care and regular visits, implants can last many years.

Is All-on-X Right for You?

You may be a good candidate if you:

  • Are missing all or most teeth in your upper or lower jaw
  • Have many teeth that are decayed, broken, or loose from gum disease
  • Wear dentures and want a fixed, more comfortable alternative
  • Are in good overall health and able to have oral surgery

Smoking, uncontrolled diabetes, and certain medications can affect healing. We will review your health carefully and help you prepare for the best possible result.

The All-on-X Process

  1. Consultation and 3D imaging: We examine your teeth, gums, and bone and discuss your goals.
  2. Custom treatment plan: We determine implant number and placement and design your new teeth.
  3. Surgery day: Any failing teeth are removed and implants are placed, often with IV sedation.
  4. Temporary teeth: Many patients go home the same day with a fixed temporary bridge.
  5. Healing: Over a few months, the implants fuse with your jawbone.
  6. Final restoration: Your strong, custom-crafted permanent bridge is attached.

Comfortable Treatment With IV Sedation

Full-arch implant surgery is a significant procedure, and your comfort matters to us. We offer IV sedation along with local anesthesia so you can stay deeply relaxed throughout treatment. Most patients remember very little of the procedure.

Caring for Your All-on-X Smile

Brush twice daily, clean around and under your bridge with a water flosser or implant floss, and keep up with professional cleanings and exams. Consistent care helps protect your implants for years to come.
